Mission Statement

This committee shall be known as the AgLime and Specialty Uses Committee of the Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association. For the purposes of marketing agricultural liming materials, the committee shall be known as the OHIO AGLIME COUNCIL.

The purposes and objects of this committee shall be to promote the increased use of processed mineral products for agricultural and other specialized purposes, and to interact with governmental and other interested parties for the improvement of product quality standards, while encouraging related research and education.

In early 2003 the Board of Directors of the Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association (OAIMA) approved the assumption of the Processed Limestone Association (PLA) into OAIMA. The PLA was one of the first aggregate industry associations in Ohio, having been incorporated in 1915, whose goal was the promotion of increased use of processed agricultural limestone on Ohio's farms. The members of the former PLA then constituted the nucleus of OAIMA's newly created Aglime and Specialty Uses Committee.

While doing business as the Ohio AgLime Council, the committee intends to serve as the focal point for issues relating to agricultural liming materials in the State of Ohio and to expand upon many of the marketing efforts initiated by the PLA. These include, but are not limited to the following:

It is the committee's intention to interact with the other OAIMA committees to enhance the understanding and marketing of all OAIMA member-companies' products; to identify and develop new markets for specialty products and to work towards a better public awareness of the unique role that mineral producers play in Ohio's agricultural and economic future.
